Visit in Spain, First day

First day
20th October 2008

We arrived in Spain at 14:00 and for the first time we saw Madrid and its airport. But at first we met our friends and Spanish teachers. We had to get to the railway station and few hours later we got off in Tomelloso. It is a small town in a heart of a country. In the evening we met our families we had to stay with. They were nice and tried to make us feel like at home.

Second day

Second Day
21st October 2008

On this day the real journey began. In the morning we went to school and presented us in a library. Then we were divided into small groups and had to work on two buildings: Arcades and Bombo. Arcades is a building in the centre of the town and is known as a museum but in the past it was inn. So we took a walk to the town and saw beautiful old streets with Mediterranean buildings. Then we returned to school where we had typical lunch. After that we went to see Bombo. This one was built in fields outside the city many years ago. It was used by local workers as a home and hut, while they were working on their lands. Now it is used as a museum. In the evening we celebrated with our friends the Halloween party.

Third day

Third Day
22nd October 2008

On Wednesday we met at school and went to Madrid. We saw Royal palace, opera theatre and the Prado museum. In museum there are many paintings from artist known all over the world such as Goya and Velazquez. Then in the evening we went shopping. In Madrid there are many restaurants which offer food from all over the world. Even if it was raining almost whole day we enjoyed it. Madrid is just perfect.

Fourth day

Fourth day
23rd October 2008

Next day we went to school again and worked for a while on our buildings.
After that we went to the main square of Tomelloso, from where we walked to a city winery. The city is known as a city of vine. Many centuries wine was made in this city. In the winery we could see how is it made today. Then in the evening was an opening ceremony.

Fifth day

Fifth day
24th October 2008

In the morning we visited Consuegra village. Near it lies a castle, which is very old and famous for the relation to a Cervantes, author of the don Quixote book. While we were traveling here by bus, we saw many white windmills typical for this part of Spain. The same windmills were used in a book of Cervantes. Each windmill has its own name. Later that day we reached Toledo, historical city which lies near Madrid. City is a mix of an ancient Christian, Jewish and Arabic culture. We saw a wonderful view of the river Tajo and walked trough narrow streets, where cars could barely get. We saw a great cathedral in the centre of Toledo. Then we had lunch in one of plenty pizzerias. There we ate the most delicious pizza, we ever seen in our lives. On the way back to Tomelloso we sang many songs.

Sixth Day

Sixth day
25th October 2008

In the morning we finally made our final work about buildings we had to study. At noon we went to visit Ruidera and Argamasilla de Alba. Ruidera is a nice place with big lakes. There is also a waterfall. In Argamasilla there is a place where Cervantes was arrested and in his prison he made up the whole story about don Quixote.
