Christmas is coming to Kosice

At the beginning of December a special atmosphere comes to Kosice. During whole Advent Main Street is decorated and wooden stalls are built for Christmas market.

The market starts with wooden sculptures of the Nativity. About 80% of population are Christians and in this time people go to churches to make their confesses and pray to God.

On Christmas Eve we have special dinner that starts with waffles and honey

We can´t miss honey and garlic, in some families mothers make a honey cross on daughters´forehead to be sweet and good and people eat garlic for health.

Presents

Main Street is really busy. People are hunting for presents and sellers are offering typical products, at this stall you can buy scented candles for your girlfriend...

sweet hearts

... or you can choose honey gingerbread, there is a wide range with beautiful icing and everyone finds what is looking for with a witty quote

Small refreshment

After work people pop round by stalls with special food and drinks, it is a social occasion to chat with colleagues over a glass of mead (it is a light alcoholic drind made from honey, very very sweet) and have roasted meat.

We had a --- PaRtY --- in the school entrance hall. At the party Turkish girls sang the typical Italian song "Santa Lucia".
And next singer was a member of the school regge band ... it was very amazing!
A teacher was a Dj and he played techno and dance music.
After the party we went to the centre of Lecce to buy some souvenirs. This day was very funny .......
In the evening the Turkish school left Lecce.

Fifth day

19th november

This day we went to visit the typical southern country of Italy. This province is called Salento. Some students told us that Salento is "Italian Jamaica".
We visited four the most important cities of Salento: Gallipoli, Galatina, Otrento and Acaja. In each city we saw interesting monuments and a castle (in Otrento I thing).
We travelled by bus with some students from the Italian school and on the bus we were singing and playing the musical instruments and we were laughing all the time. We enjoyed the trip very much indeed. In the evening we got back to school where our hosting families pick up us.

We woke up at 11 o' clock. We had typical Sunday lunch, which had 5 or 6 courses.

When the sun went down we went to Gallipoli where we walked around the main street.
There were a lot of people because Sunday is only one free day in Italy.
There we met students from other states. On the main street we saw street artists. It was a good day.

We arrived to Lecce on Friday morning. At the railway station we met Mrs. Elisa, who drove us to her school Liceo Artistico. At school we met Weena and Gabrielle. After school we went with them to their homes. We lived quite far, in Taurisano (Tibor) and Aradeo (Patrik). Their families welcomed us very heartly, then we had a lunch which many courses, 5 or 6 I think. After the lunch we went out to meet their friends. Because we were very tired after our long journey, we went back home very early.
